RotorSim Header

Take to the skies in RotorSim, a retro-inspired helicopter simulation that blends classic 90s flight sims with modern accessibility. Fly three unique helicopters, each with distinct handling, as you complete 30 missions ranging from rescue ops to cargo transport. Dynamic weather effects like storms, fog, and wind add to the challenge, while a sim-cade flight model keeps controls intuitive without expensive peripherals required. RotorSim runs smoothly on low-end hardware and the Steam Deck.

This project was small and focused, taking around 1.5 years to complete and giving me an opportunity to learn the basics of Godot, GDScript, and flight simulation development.

RotorSim 2 (In Development)

RotorSim 2 Header

RotorSim World is a direct sequel to the original RotorSim, featuring procedural and emergent missions layered over the simulator foundation that I developed. Porting over the work I did with the first game means I can spend my time making a much bigger game and adding features I’ve been wanting to add for years. Current features include:

  • 5 different helicopters, including both tandem and coaxial designs.
  • Significant improvements to the base flight model, plus a bonus “full-control” simulation setting.
  • Randomized missions in addition to the campaign for increased replayability
  • 64km² world with cities, a coastline, forests, and secrets
  • More mission types, such as firefighting, more involved and complicated cargo operations, deliveries, traffic jams, tours
  • Fully voiced air traffic, dispatchers, ATC, and citizens, most from the sim enthusiast community
  • NPCs and traffic to fill out the world
  • Robustly simulated ocean movement with object buoyancy
  • Many more accessibility options, such as colorblind filters and UI size adjustments

I built new tools to help manage the development, such as generation systems for cities, forests, and weather, and development is moving quickly because of that. I am anticipating a late 2026 or early 2027 release for the 1.0 version, and I would like to make this a long-term project that receives significant updates over the next few years (such as new maps, helicopters, mission types, and flight models).
